This Sacred Vessel began it’s life as a spirit bottle, probably tequila. The very heavy glass is adorned with both green and green-marbled handmade paper. Pieces of tattered rice paper hold a small piece of wood that looks like a horse’s head. Corkscrew mesquite and eucalyptus pods surround the neck and the cork is topped off with a humble peach pit! A turkey feather adds to the uniqueness of this piece. It is 12 inches tall, 4 inches wide and the mouth opening is a scant 1 inch.
The horse symbolizes personal drive, passion and appetite for freedom. Among all the spirit animals, it is one that shows a strong motivation that carries one through life. The meaning of the horse varies depending on whether this animal spirit guide is represented as wild, tamed, moving freely or constrained.
Turkey is actually thought to be the Give-Away Eagle or South Eagle of many native peoples. The philosophy of give- away was practiced by many tribes. Simply stated, it is the deep and abiding recognition of the sacrifices of both self and others. People in modern-day society, who have many times more than they need, could use to study the energy of the noble turkey.
Harmony Rose lives in the mountains, near Santa Fe, New Mexico. This Grandmother of six loves to gather sacred pieces of the earth and highlight them in her creations. Much of Harmony’s art is made from recycled pieces which, over time, will disintegrate and go right back into the earth.
